Describe the intervention/practice
in 4-5 sentences: The prevocational training program was designed to provide
hands-on experience in sewing and embroidery work. Students were trained in
fabric cutting, scissor handling, curtain making, hemming, fitting borders, and
sewing techniques. The program was conducted by an expert instructor, Dodhiya
Savitaben, with support from the school administration. Special guests,
including the coordinator and CRC official, graced the event. The initiative
aimed to blend skill development with traditional education for holistic
learning.
What Innovation or Unique Element
(value addition) differentiates it from the regular activity? This program
introduced practical, hands-on training within the school environment, enabling
students to develop real-world vocational skills. It was an effort to make
students self-sufficient and prepare them for future career opportunities.
Impact of the best practice: The
program resulted in increased student engagement and skill acquisition in
sewing and embroidery. Students displayed improved confidence in handling
sewing machines and completing creative projects. The hands-on approach
enhanced their interest in vocational subjects, ensuring long-term benefits.
Challenges:
- Limited availability of sewing machines
- Need for additional training sessions
- Encouraging parental involvement
Any suggestions for improvement:
- Increase the number of sewing machines for better hands-on
training
- Conduct more frequent vocational workshops
- Strengthen partnerships with NGOs or CSR initiatives
for resource support
